Meet Jaspriya Johal

Ward 3’s Voice for Affordability, Safety, and Smart Growth

I have called Calgary home for over 20 years. I grew up in this community, and today I continue to raise my family here.

My career in Alberta Health Services has given me a first-hand understanding of the challenges families face, from affordability to access to essential services.

As an entrepreneur and mentor, I have seen the importance of supporting small businesses and helping the next generation of leaders find their voice. Beyond my professional work, I have been a tireless community advocate. I have served as a director of the Livingston Community Association, organized community clean-ups and fundraisers, and volunteered with groups like Guru Nanak Free Kitchen. My leadership is rooted in action, not words.

I know what it takes to bring people together to solve problems. As your councillor, I will bring that same dedication, compassion, and determination to City Hall.

Every family deserves to feel secure. I will work with first responders and our community to improve road safety, prevent crime, and make sure every neighbourhood is safe.

Smart Growth and Better Services

I’ve seen the impact when growth outpaces services. I will push to ensure new developments come with schools, healthcare, transit, and roads that truly serve residents.

Responsible Growth in Aurora Lands

I spoke at City Hall to make sure residents’ voices were heard on Aurora Lands. I will continue to push for schools, healthcare, transit, and green spaces to be built alongside new homes so families aren’t left waiting years for basic services.

Mentorship and Entrepreneurship

As an entrepreneur and mentor, I know the challenges of starting and growing a business. I will support local entrepreneurs, cut red tape, and create opportunities for the next generation of leaders in Ward 3.

Our community cannot afford endless delays on schools, transit, and healthcare while costs keep rising. That is why I stood at City Hall to speak against the Aurora Lands submission as it was presented because growth without services leaves families behind.

✓ Improved Transit & Infrastructure
Fighting for better public transit that actually connects our growing neighborhoods – including the LRT line and BRT expansions.
 
✓ Support Local Economy

As an entrepreneur, I know how much red tape holds small businesses back. I will cut unnecessary barriers so local businesses can grow and continue to create jobs.

 

✓ Transparency & Responsible Taxes
Families are stretched thin, and you deserve to know how every tax dollar is spent. I will push for clear, accessible budgeting at City Hall and fight to keep taxes fair and responsible.
